Our Sunday Best Guest got in contact with JAGS to ask for help with food as a disabled mum shielding with her four teenagers. She finds it difficult to use technology, but we were able to sign her up to Sunday Best by exchanging messages on Facebook Messenger to confirm her contact details and dietary requirements.  Watch our video here

Since then, we have been able to deliver her family healthy and homecooked meals every Sunday. She has contacted us regularly with lovely feedback about our meals, volunteers and organisation. For example: “The food was top 5 star delicious. You make me feel like I can be safe – knowing you are on my side is so important for me as a disabled mum.” She was particularly happy to receive meals at Christmas time, as she was feeling particularly down due to not being able to see family and friends. She has shared information about JAGS Foundation and Sunday Best via local Facebook groups, and helped us find more delivery volunteers.

As she got to know and trust us, she confided that her family were finding lockdown very difficult – her children were growing out of their clothes, and she was struggling to keep in touch with friends as they were all meeting on Zoom and she didn’t have a compatible phone. Through our network of volunteers, we managed to secure donations of a phone, tablet, Nintendo and clothes for all the family. She was extremely grateful for the items, and the volunteers thanked us for giving purpose to their unused items.

Stand with us and help build a safer world.
